Here’s the Truth About Hiring a Roofer in Fresno TX, and How Holden Roofing Changes It
Greater Houston is crawling with roofing companies, and when hail hit Fresno on May 5, 2025, a fresh wave of them rolled down FM 521 within days. Door hangers, yard signs, trucks with plates from three states away.
Most of those crews were gone before the summer was out. The homeowners who signed with them found out about it the first time a valley leaked and the number on the contract went to voicemail.
So what separates the roofer you can count on from the one who leaves with the storm?
Asking the right things. Coming up: three mistakes that cost Fresno families the most, a single question to unmask each one, and Holden Roofing’s reply. Then come seven questions Fresno callers put to us before we ever set a ladder.

Problem One: The Quick Look That Cannot Tell Hail From a Twenty-Year-Old Roof
Thousands of Fresno homes went up between the late 1990s and the late 2000s, and a lot of those first roofs are still on them. Old shingles shed granules, crack and blister on their own, so hail bruises hide in plain sight.
A salesman who never leaves the lawn cannot sort storm damage from age. Your adjuster can, and will, if nobody shows otherwise.
“Can You Show Me Which Marks Are Hail and Which Are Just Age?”
A weak answer sounds like “it’s all storm damage, trust me” from somebody who never went up. If the roofer cannot point to a fresh bruise, a dented vent cap and a dated storm, the claim is a coin flip.
How Holden Roofing Answers It
Yes, with a photo of every hit next to a photo of every age crack, so you can see the difference yourself. Holden Roofing project managers walk all slopes, mark test squares, size the dents on soft metals, and look at the decking from the attic.
When a Fresno roof is simply old and not storm damaged, you hear that too. Then you decide on a retail roof with nobody pushing a claim that will not stand up.
“Scott Merrill showed up less than 72 after a hail storm to take a look at our 2 story roofs. He called the morning of reminding me he was stopping by then again when he arrived. He is very professional and on top of things like the roof! He was on time and thorough. Will use him again and again. Thanks Scott.”
Byron Rippstein, 5 stars, March 2025. Read this review on Google →

Problem Two: The Contractor Who Stops Calling After the Denial Letter
A denial or a lowball payout is where most storm salespeople quit, because an easy approval was all they were selling. Fresno homeowners with older roofs see more of these letters, since carriers like to blame age.
A first “no” is not the final word. It is the point where a real roofer starts earning the job.
“If the Carrier Blames Age and Denies It, What Do You Do Next?”
A good answer names actual moves: requesting a re-inspection, standing next to the adjuster on the second visit, filing a supplement, going to appraisal. Vague comfort like “we’ll figure it out” means that roofer has never won one back.
How Holden Roofing Answers It
We go back up with the adjuster, put the storm evidence in front of them hit by hit, and push the file through re-inspection, supplements or appraisal when the facts back it. When the facts do not, we say so plainly.
Fort Bend claims have crossed the desks on First Street since before Harvey, and a good share of our most loyal customers had a denial letter in hand the day they first called.
“Our insurance company declined to cover the damage and Kaiden recommended an attorney that specializes in assisting homeowners. A few weeks later our insurance company offered to cover the cost of the new roof.”
Bucky Zehm, 5 stars, August 2026. Read this review on Google →

Problem Three: The Bargain Bid That Saves Money Where You Cannot See It
Most Fresno households own the home they live in and watch every dollar, and the cheapest re-roof quote knows it. That number usually gets low by cutting nails, skipping valley membrane and reusing tired flashing and pipe boots.
None of that shows on the day the trucks leave. It shows the second hurricane season.
“If Your Crew Gets It Wrong, Who Pays to Fix It?”
“We guarantee our work” from a company with no office and no manufacturer behind it is a promise with nothing under it. Ask whether the shingle maker itself backs the installation, and ask for the warranty registration in writing.
How Holden Roofing Answers It
Owens Corning backs it. Every Holden Roofing re-roof follows the full Owens Corning spec, from six-nail fastening on the steep pitches to synthetic felt, valley membrane, fresh drip edge, replaced pipe boots and balanced attic airflow.
That build qualifies a Fresno roof for Platinum Protection, which covers the installation labor as well as the shingles. A bargain roof cannot carry that warranty, because the bargain crew is not in the tier.
Seven Questions Fresno Families Want Answered Before Any Roofer Climbs Up
These come straight from Fresno callers, answered the way our project managers answer them at Fresno kitchen tables. If a roofer squirms on even one, you have your answer.
01“Fresno Isn’t a City. Who Do I Get a Re-Roof Permit From?”
Usually nobody. Fresno is unincorporated Fort Bend County, and County Engineering does not list re-roofing among its permit triggers. We still confirm with County Engineering at 281-342-3411 and clear it with your HOA before tear-off.
02“Our Teal Run Roof Is Original. Is It Too Old to Bother With a Claim?”
Not automatically. Age does not cancel storm damage; it just makes documentation matter more. We photograph fresh hail bruises separately from age wear, and if the hail evidence is thin, we tell you before you file.
03“We Have Solar Panels. Who Deals With Those During the Re-Roof?”
We plan it into the job before anyone starts tearing off. Panels have to come off before the old roof does and go back on after, so Holden Roofing builds that removal and reset into the schedule and the claim scope. One project manager, one timeline.
04“Brazoria County Is Right Down the Road. Do I Need a Windstorm Inspection?”
No, not for a Fresno home on the Fort Bend side. TDI’s designated catastrophe area stops at the Fort Bend line. Brazoria County is inside it, so homes across the county line follow different rules.
05“First Street Is Clear Across the County. Will You Really Drive Out Here?”
Yes, and it is about 28 miles, or 41 minutes, each way. Crews take I-69, then SH 6 through Sugar Land, Missouri City and Arcola, then FM 521. Near enough to swing back the same week if something needs a second look.
06“The Last Guy Said He’d Eat Our Deductible. Can You Match That?”
No. In Texas that offer is illegal. Under House Bill 2102, a contractor who waives, rebates or covers a deductible commits a Class B misdemeanor. A roofer willing to break that rule on the porch will break others on your roof.
07“What’s the Catch With a Free Roof Inspection?”
It is free, and there is nothing to sign. You get the inspection, the photo report and a straight recommendation. Then you take as long as you need to decide.
Use these seven on every roofer you talk to, then ring (281) 344-9083 and judge our answers the same way.
What You Actually Need From a Fresno Roofing Contractor, and Why Holden Roofing Is Built Around It
Sloppy roof work in Fresno often hides for five or ten summers, which means the company responsible needs to still be around when it surfaces. What follows is what a Fresno homeowner should demand, item by item, and how Holden Roofing delivers it.
Owens Corning’s Signature on the Installer, Not Just the Bundle
Owens Corning ranks its contractors in tiers, and Holden Roofing sits in the top one, Platinum Preferred, a level under 7 percent of the Preferred network attains. The tier comes by invitation only.
To earn that invite, a contractor’s installs, customer ratings and business dealings all get reviewed first. The payoff for Fresno homeowners: Platinum Protection, a limited lifetime warranty that no lower-tier roofer is allowed to register.
What Platinum Protection Covers on a Fresno Roof
Materials
Shingles from qualifying Owens Corning lines, Duration and Duration FLEX included, are covered by a limited lifetime material warranty while the house is yours. Duration adds a 130 mph wind warranty, which matters in a county that Gulf storms cross every few years.
Workmanship
This is the piece most Fresno homeowners never get offered. Platinum Protection extends to the labor: a mistake by our installers becomes Owens Corning’s problem to make right, not yours. Roofers outside the tier simply cannot register it.
Sixty-Five Years of Roofing, Still Headquartered in Fort Bend County
More than 100,000 roofs replaced, and roughly 400 installers on the crews statewide, many of them ten-year veterans and some past thirty. The people roofing Fresno were roofing Fort Bend before most of Teal Run was built.
Reviewers Who Thank Their Project Manager by Name
Zero Cost, Zero Signature, and the Photos Are Yours
Why Holden Roofing Is Seldom the Lowest Number
Reviewers often say they had lower bids in hand. They also say why they went with Holden Roofing anyway.
“Our new roof looks beautiful, a replacement following damage done by a recent hail storm. We were extremely impressed, from start to finish, with the professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail provided by Frank Kastl.”
“Ryan Joyce from Holden Roofing made our house transition a breeze. We not only replaced our roof but also removed our old siding and replaced it with Hardie plank. Holden Roofing completed all work quickly and at a reasonable price. Most recently, we had a stream of storms that rolled through and damaged a metal edge covering. We contacted Ryan, and they fixed the issue without question.”
How to Reach Holden Roofing From Fresno, and What Happens Next
Fresno’s center sits roughly 27.7 miles, or about 41 minutes by truck, from the Holden Roofing headquarters building at 2128 First Street in Rosenberg. The farthest east of the communities our First Street crews cover, and still well inside a normal workday’s reach.
The route: pick up I-69 (US 59) northeast, exit onto SH 6 and ride it southeast through Sugar Land, Missouri City and Arcola, then take FM 521 into Fresno. SH 6 backs up at commute time, which is why Fresno appointments get slotted around it.
Call (281) 344-9083 or text a roof photo, and someone from the First Street office books the visit. A roofer answers, not a call center reading from a card.
The First Visit
You come away with pictures of each slope, a report on the attic decking and one clear verdict: fix it, re-roof it, or let it ride. After a storm, you also hear whether the evidence will probably satisfy your insurer before you open a claim.

Roofing Services in Fresno: Retail Roofing and Storm Roofing From One Team
Holden Roofing covers both kinds of roofing work in Fresno: the roof you pay for yourself because it has worn out, and the roof an insurer pays for after a storm. The same crews, the same Owens Corning spec and the same project manager handle either one.
In a town where many first roofs are reaching the end of their life just as the hail keeps coming, a lot of Fresno jobs turn out to be a little of both.
Retail Roofing in Fresno

Free Roof Inspection
Fresno inspections cover the open shingle field, each pipe, vent and its flashing collar, the ridge line, the deck as seen from inside the attic, and ground-level items like gutters, window screens and fencing. You keep every photo. What happens next is your call.

Good reasons to book one in Fresno: buying or selling a home in 77545, a roof that is past twenty years, any hail report within a few miles, or a ceiling stain that showed up after a heavy rain. No charge, no obligation.

Roof Replacement
When Holden Roofing replaces a Fresno roof, everything comes off down to the plywood, soft or cracked sheets get replaced, and the new roof goes back as a full Owens Corning system with synthetic felt, valley membrane, fresh drip edge and flashing, and balanced airflow.

Single-story or two-story, the typical Fresno house goes from torn off to watertight in one day.
Install Day on a Fresno Cul-de-Sac
The crew shows up early and covers beds, AC units and patio furniture. Each deck sheet is checked as the old shingles come off. By lunch most Fresno houses are sealed against weather; the afternoon belongs to shingles, and nobody leaves until a magnet has rolled across the lawn and the drive.

Roof Repair
If the trouble is confined to one spot and the rest of the shingles have life in them, fix the spot: a split pipe boot, a handful of creased tabs, wall flashing that pulled loose, a cracked vent cap.
Holden Roofing prices a repair as its own job. Nobody will try to turn a small Fresno leak into a full roof sale.

Emergency Roof Repair and Tarping
Water coming through a Fresno ceiling gets a secured tarp from Holden Roofing before the next squall shows up. Sealing the roof quickly saves insulation, sheetrock and wiring, and Texas homeowner policies generally require you to stop damage from spreading.
Every opening is photographed before the tarp goes over it, so the claim keeps all of its evidence.
“We had a great experience with Holden Roofing specifically Lance Nelson. Our roof was damaged in a storm and they handled all of the painful insurance claim process, our solar panels and everything else from start to finish! I couldn’t have asked for an easier experience – thanks Lance and Holden Roofing!”
Storm Roofing in Fresno
Hail Damage Roof Repair
You will rarely spot Fresno hail damage standing on the lawn. Our inspectors go looking for three signs: soft, bruised spots where granules are gone, dimpled vents and gutters that tell the stone size, and seal strips the gusts behind the hail pulled loose.
Wind Damage Roof Repair
Gulf squall lines cross the open prairie around Fresno with nothing to slow them down, and a shingle that lifts once will keep lifting. We test seal strips on every slope and tie any wind damage to a dated gust for the claim.
Hurricane and Tropical Storm Damage
Fresno sits within easy reach of every Gulf system that comes ashore between Matagorda and Galveston, and Beryl proved it in July 2024. Crews from Holden Roofing’s headquarters worked Fort Bend claims for months after Harvey and again after Beryl.
What the Adjuster Looks For
Hail hits counted inside a test square
Adjusters tally bruises within a 10 by 10 foot square on each slope to decide whether that slope gets replaced. Our project manager chalks and photographs those squares before the adjuster arrives.
Creased and missing shingles
A crease running across a tab shows the shingle unsealed and folded back in the wind. Missing tabs and exposed nail heads get flagged slope by slope, with photos.
Soft metals, solar hardware and collateral
Dented vent caps, gutters, downspouts and AC fins pin down storm size and direction. Damage to panels, screens and fences is documented too, so it lands on the claim instead of your credit card.
Storms, Hurricanes and Hail in Fresno: What Hit, When, and What It Did to Your Roof
Fresno sits on flat coastal prairie at the southeast edge of Fort Bend County, with the Brazos River bottomland off to the west and the Brazoria County line just to the south and east. Nothing on that terrain breaks up a storm.
Warm, wet Gulf air rides north across the prairie all year. Tropical systems, spring squall lines and hail cells cross Fresno with little to weaken them on the way.
Eleven years in a row now, Texas has finished first in the nation for major hail events, 902 of them in 2025. Fresno also soaks up over 50 inches of rain in a typical year, and every June 1 starts a hurricane season that lasts until November 30.
The Fresno Storms Holden Roofing Still Gets Calls About
2017
- August and September 2017: Hurricane Harvey.
No Fresno-specific roof damage count was ever published. Upriver at Richmond, though, the Brazos set its all-time crest of 55.19 feet on September 1, 2017.
2019 to 2021
- February 26, 2019.
One-inch hail fell at Iowa Colony, about 6.9 miles from Fresno.
- January 6, 2021.
Rosharon logged one-inch hail, roughly 9.6 miles out.
2024
- March 15, 2024.
Missouri City, roughly 6.2 miles off, reported one-inch stones; Fifth Street saw 1.5 inches and Stafford one inch, each close to nine miles from Fresno.
- March 16, 2024.
West of Fresno, hail near Needville reached 2.75 inches, golf ball to baseball size.
- July 8, 2024: Hurricane Beryl.
Beryl reached the coast by Matagorda as a Category 1 carrying 90 mph winds. Fort Bend’s strongest measured gust, 76 mph, hit Sugar Land’s airport 12 to 14 miles northwest of Fresno, and the county took 4 to 8 inches of rain and lost a large number of trees.
2025
- May 5, 2025.
The one that hit Fresno itself. StormerSite logged one-inch hail inside Fresno, about 2.7 miles from the center of town, the same evening storms tore across the area south of Houston.
2026 So Far
- February 14, 2026.
Wind, not hail: the Sugar Land airport recorded a 67 mph gust.
- Night of April 30 into May 1, 2026.
After midnight, 1.25-inch hail fell at Fifth Street, 5.4 miles from Fresno, with inch-wide stones at Brookside Village, 6.5 miles out.
Only the May 2025 storm is on record inside Fresno; the rest struck nearby. If nobody has been on your roof since any of them, a free look is worth booking.
“After the hail storm in April we contacted Holden Roofing to inspect our roof. Sure enough there was hail damage, as was on every single house in our neighborhood. They were very prompt in responding and communicating with us throughout the process with the insurance company and kept us updated on the claim.”
What Those Storms Did to Fresno Roofs, Street by Street
1970s to 1990s Homes in Marbill Estates, Fresno Gardens, Teleview Terrace and Fresno Ranchos
The oldest part of town, with HAR median build years from 1975 to 1993. Many of these roofs are on their second or third covering, some over aging plank or early plywood decking. Holden Roofing checks the deck before quoting and includes a per-sheet decking allowance.
Late 1990s to 2000s Homes in Teal Run, Teal Run Meadows, Estates of Teal Run and Andover Farms
The heart of Fresno’s growth, with median build years from about 1999 to 2005. Plenty of these houses still wear the builder’s first shingles, now 20 years old or more. Hail plus age is the hardest claim to document, and the most common one in Fresno.
Newer Homes in Cambridge Falls, Winfield Lakes North, Olympia Falls and Post Oak Pointe
Built from about 2015 forward, with builder-grade shingles on busier two-story rooflines. The valleys and the slopes facing the storm take the first hits. A Class 4 upgrade at the first claim often pays for itself in premium savings on these homes.
How Holden Roofing Handles Your Fresno Insurance Claim
Inspect, document, stand with the adjuster, build what was approved, recover the held-back depreciation: Holden Roofing has worked that order on thousands of Fort Bend storm files. You still own the policy and you still own the claim.
We exist in that process to put all of the real damage in front of the carrier, and to claim nothing that is not there.
Five Steps From the Storm to the Last Check on a Fresno Claim
Step 1. The Roof, the Attic and the Yard
One photo report comes out of the visit, built from the roof, the attic and the yard: test squares, wind creases, dented soft metals, collateral damage and, on older roofs, the age wear shown separately.
Step 2. An Honest Read Before You File
You hear our honest guess on whether the carrier will accept it. When the answer looks like no, we tell you to hold off, because a denial on your file only hurts.
Step 3. On the Roof With the Adjuster
A Holden Roofing representative is up there with your adjuster, pointing out the damage slope by slope, so the scope matches the roof.
Step 4. Checking the Scope and Filing Supplements
If decking, drip edge, ventilation, code items or solar removal and reset were left off, we file supplements with photos and measurements to back each one.
Step 5. Build, Final Invoice, Depreciation
Once the approved work is built, the carrier gets our final invoice, and we help you chase the depreciation they withheld from check number one.
When Your Fresno Claim Gets Denied
Plenty of storm denials get reversed once someone takes a second, better-documented look. Look in your policy for the appraisal clause most Texas homeowner contracts include; our reps guide Fort Bend families through re-inspections, appraisal and, where it makes sense, a licensed public adjuster.
“Wes Lackey helped guide me through the process to challenge my insurance company’s initial ruling that only two sides of our roof was damaged by last year’s hail storm. It took patience and effort, but eventually an independent adjuster convinced them to cover the entire roof.”
The Deductible Rule Every Fresno Homeowner Should Know
Since 2019, Texas law under HB 2102 has treated a waived, rebated or secretly covered deductible as a crime by the contractor. The charge is a Class B misdemeanor: as much as $2,000 in fines and half a year in jail.
Your carrier can ask for proof the deductible was paid before releasing depreciation. Holden Roofing never offers to skip it. What we do offer is your exact out-of-pocket figure, in writing, before tear-off.
| Fresno hail or wind claim item | Typically paid by the carrier | What the homeowner pays |
|---|---|---|
| Tearing off and hauling away the damaged roof | Yes | Deductible only |
| Shingles, underlayment, starter, hip and ridge | Yes, per the approved scope | Upgrades past like-kind |
| Rotted or impact-cracked decking | Often, when photographed | Depends on the policy |
| Drip edge, valley membrane, attic ventilation | Often, through a supplement | Depends on the carrier |
| Removing and resetting solar panels for the re-roof | Often, when listed in the scope | Depends on the policy |
| Gutters, screens, AC fins, fences hit by hail | Yes, if storm damaged | Deductible only |
| Moving up to Class 4 impact-rated shingles | Sometimes, by endorsement | The price difference |
| Recoverable depreciation | Released after the final invoice | None, if finished on time |
Shingle, Metal, Tile and Flat Roofing for Fresno Homes
Whatever a Fresno property calls for, Holden Roofing installs it: dimensional or impact-rated asphalt, standing seam and R-panel steel, stone-coated metal, tile in concrete or clay, and on near-flat sections, TPO, mod-bit and coatings.
Running residential and commercial divisions under one roof means a shingle house, a metal barn and a flat patio cover on the same Fresno property all get one standard.
| Roofing system | Typical installed cost | Lifespan on a Fresno roof | How it handles Gulf storms | Best fit in Fresno |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owens Corning Duration architectural shingle | $9,000 to $26,000+ | 15 to 25 years | SureNail strip, 130 mph wind warranty, StreakGuard algae resistance | Teal Run, Andover Farms and most Fresno re-roofs |
| Owens Corning Duration FLEX (Class 4) | $11,000 to $30,000+ | 20 to 30 years | SBS polymer-modified, UL 2218 Class 4, 130 mph | Newer two-story homes and anyone after a premium credit |
| Standing seam metal | $18,000 to $43,000+ | 40 to 70 years | Excellent in wind, large hail can leave cosmetic dents | Fresno Ranchos and other rural lots, long-term owners |
| R-panel and stone-coated steel | Quoted after inspection | 30 to 50 years | Very good | Barns, shops, sheds and porch roofs |
| Clay or concrete tile | $25,000 to $58,000+ | 50+ years | Good, a single tile can crack | Custom builds where the structure carries the weight |
| TPO, modified bitumen, coatings | Quoted after inspection | 15 to 30 years | Good over sound insulation board | Patio covers, flat additions, commercial roofs |
01Asphalt Shingle Roofing With Owens Corning
Duration
No shingle shows up on more Holden Roofing jobs in Fresno than Duration, mainly because of its SureNail strip. Its StreakGuard treatment also holds off the black algae lines Fort Bend’s muggy air draws on north slopes.
How SureNail Holds a Fresno Roof Down
SureNail is a woven fabric band laid into the nailing zone. The band locks each fastener in place through season after season of coastal heat, and it underwrites Duration’s 130 mph wind warranty, a figure Fresno homeowners appreciate every hurricane season.
Duration FLEX
FLEX swaps ordinary asphalt for an SBS polymer blend, so the shingle flexes under a stone instead of fracturing, and it holds Class 4, the highest UL 2218 rating.
What It Takes to Earn Class 4
Testers drop a steel ball two inches across from a height of 20 feet, hit the identical spot a second time, and look for any crack.
Texas carriers must, by Insurance Code Section 2253, put a premium discount on the table for Class 4 roofs; Fort Bend and greater Houston homeowners commonly see it shave 15 to 22 percent off the wind-hail line.
On a Cambridge Falls or Olympia Falls two-story, that discount can cover a good part of the FLEX upgrade over a few renewals.
02Metal Roofing in Fresno
Out on Fresno’s rural lots, metal pays its way on more than the house: barns, workshops and porch roofs too. Holden Roofing installs standing seam, R-panel and stone-coated steel, and recommends standing seam with concealed clips and 24 or 26 gauge coated panels for a home.
R-panel is the practical choice for outbuildings on lots like those in Fresno Ranchos. In a subdivision, Holden Roofing confirms that the HOA allows metal before a single panel is ordered.
03Tile Roofing in Fresno
Tile is uncommon on Fresno’s production-built homes, but where a custom build or an addition calls for it, the underlayment is what decides how long it lasts. Sound tile routinely outlives the membrane beneath it.
Holden Roofing crews lift good tile, lay new high-temperature underlayment, reset the tile, swap cracked pieces and rebuild the flashing at walls and chimneys.
04Flat and Low-Slope Roofing in Fresno
Back patio covers, flat garage additions and small commercial buildings along FM 521 often sit on low-slope decks. Holden Roofing’s commercial division installs TPO, modified bitumen and restoration coatings on them.
If the insulation underneath is still dry, a tired flat roof can usually be coated in silicone or acrylic and kept in service another five to ten years for far less than a tear-off.
“Wesley Lackey and Holden Roofing did a great job for us! My mom’s house had hail damage. Wesley did a great job of helping us with the insurance and seeing that all of the repairs were made. She had to have a new roof, outside air conditioning unit, some screens replaced, and the metal porch covering needed replaced. Everything was taken care of without any hassles.”
What a New Roof Costs in Fresno in 2026
In 2026 a Fresno architectural shingle re-roof generally costs $9,000 to $26,000+, and where a house lands depends mostly on roof area, steepness, the count of old layers, and the amount of rotten plywood we find.
Duration FLEX (Class 4) runs $11,000 to $30,000+. Standing seam metal runs $18,000 to $43,000+, and tile runs $25,000 to $58,000+. Repairs start near $1,200 and go to $8,500+.
| Fresno home profile | Approx. roof size | Asphalt shingles | Standing seam metal | Tile roofing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Older single story, Fresno Gardens, Teleview Terrace or Marbill Estates | About 16 to 22 squares | $9,000 to $15,500+ | $18,000 to $27,000+ | $25,000 to $35,000+ |
| Early 2000s home, Teal Run, Teal Run Meadows or Andover Farms | About 22 to 30 squares | $11,000 to $20,000+ | $22,000 to $34,000+ | $30,000 to $45,000+ |
| Newer two story, Cambridge Falls, Winfield Lakes North or Olympia Falls | About 28 to 38 squares | $14,500 to $26,000+ | $27,500 to $43,000+ | $37,000 to $58,000+ |
| Repair: leak, pipe boots, flashing, wind-lifted tabs | A few squares or less | $1,200 to $8,500+ | $1,300 to $8,500+ | $1,500 to $8,500+ |
What Pushes a Fresno Price Higher or Lower
On a Holden Roofing proposal, each component gets its own line: removal, decking per sheet, felt, valley membrane, starter, field shingles, ridge and hip, drip edge, vents, and solar removal and reset. If another Fresno quote is thousands less, ask which of those lines it dropped.
Older homes with a second layer of shingles or soft plank decking land near the top of the range, because more comes off and more gets replaced underneath.

Read the 957 Google reviews side by side and three themes keep coming back: claims that got paid in full, older roofs that finally got new decking, and crews that leave the yard spotless.
“He Got the Decking Brought Up to Code”
“I called Holden and Maynard was out the same afternoon. After confirming the damage to my roof was hail related, he walked me through every step of the insurance claim process. In addition to replacing the roof, he also worked with the insurance company on a supplemental claim to bring the decking up to code.”
“He Got the Decking Brought Up to Code”
“He also advised us to push for a roof redeck, as this was a hail damage insurance claim, because TX made roof code changes since the home was built… Stephen walked us through the process and waited months for the insurance approval”
“Back on Track After Beryl”
“Scott M. did an amazing job handling my roof replacement after hurricane Beryl. Had some leaks at the exhaust fixtures but he came back and got it fixed.”
“The Cleanup Was Above and Beyond”
“I had hail damage to my roof and called Holden Roofing for an estimate. They were prompt and very knowledgeable and put my mind at ease especially since I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before… The roof was replaced quickly, it looks fabulous, and the clean up was above and beyond.”

Fresno work is dispatched from Holden Roofing’s headquarters in Rosenberg, 2128 First Street, a drive of roughly 27.7 miles and 41 minutes using I-69, SH 6 and FM 521. Crews heading to Fresno pass through Sugar Land, Missouri City and Arcola on the same run.
Fresno is not Fresno, California. It is an unincorporated Fort Bend County community of 24,486 people at the 2020 Census, up from 6,603 in 2000, and its own story says a settler from California gave the town its name.

Roof Permits in Fresno
Fresno is unincorporated Fort Bend County, which does not list re-roofing among its permit triggers. County Engineering requires permits for floodplain work and for enclosed structures or slabs of 400 square feet or more, not for a like-for-like residential re-roof.
Holden Roofing confirms with County Engineering at 281-342-3411 and with your HOA before tear-off. Many Fresno subdivisions are deed-restricted MUD communities; Teal Run, for one, is served by Fort Bend County MUD 23, so association approval is usually the real gate.
Storm Chasers Knock in Fresno Too. Here’s How to Tell Holden Roofing From the Rest
Full disclosure: after a hailstorm, some of the people knocking on Fresno doors work for Holden Roofing. Few families know their roof was hurt, and a no-cost look is the only way to learn it while the claim deadline is still open.
What sets Holden Roofing apart from the trucks that roll in after the hail is everything that happens once the door opens.
- A real building with a street number. Holden Roofing’s headquarters stands at 2128 First Street, Rosenberg. Ask the person on your porch for theirs.
- A listing you can check yourself. Search Owens Corning’s Platinum Preferred directory and Holden Roofing is on it. A truck decal is not a credential.
- A track record that predates this storm. 957 Google reviews written over many hail and hurricane years, not one frantic spring.
- Your deductible stays your deductible. Waiving it breaks Texas HB 2102, and whoever offers it is showing you how the rest of the job will go.
- The scope comes before the signature. A contingency agreement pushed at you before anyone has been on the roof is a warning sign.
- Installers who are here all year. Around 400 of them across Texas, not a crew assembled the week the hail fell.
“Experienced storm wind and hail roof damage. Shopped around, read reviews and talked to neighbors and ended up selecting Holden Roofing. Very pleased with the choice. Fantastic customer service to include both the exterior and interior work accomplished. Easy to get ahold of, excellent quality work. They were especially good at dealing with the insurance company. I left their sign in my yard and have recommended them to neighbors.”
Frequently Asked Questions About Hiring a Roofer in Fresno TX
Call (281) 344-9083
What does a roofer in Fresno TX charge for a new roof?
A typical 2026 shingle re-roof on a Fresno house prices out at $9,000 to $26,000+. Going to Class 4 Duration FLEX moves that to $11,000 to $30,000+; standing seam is $18,000 to $43,000+, tile $25,000 to $58,000+.
Repairs run $1,200 to $8,500+. Either way, the inspection is free and the estimate arrives itemized and in writing.
Did the May 5, 2025 hailstorm actually hit Fresno?
Yes. StormerSite logged one-inch hail inside Fresno on May 5, 2025, about 2.7 miles from the center of town. That is large enough to bruise older shingles and dent soft metals, so any Fresno roof that has not been inspected since is worth a look.
Did Hurricane Beryl damage roofs in Fresno?
Beryl’s winds reached every corner of Fort Bend on July 8, 2024; the strongest measured gust in the county was 76 mph at the Sugar Land airport, and trees came down countywide. No Fresno-only damage report was published, so an inspection is the only way to know what your roof took.
Do I need my HOA’s approval to replace a roof in Fresno?
In most Fresno subdivisions, yes. Teal Run, Cambridge Falls and Winfield Lakes are deed-restricted communities, so color and material changes generally go through the association. Holden Roofing prepares and submits the request and waits for the approval.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Fresno?
Usually, especially on newer two-story homes. Section 2253 of the state Insurance Code obliges insurers to discount Class 4 roofs, and on Fort Bend policies that tends to mean 15 to 22 percent less for wind and hail coverage. Our Class 4 shingle is Owens Corning Duration FLEX.
How long does a re-roof take on a Teal Run or Andover Farms home?
One day for most of them. Houses with a second layer to remove or a lot of soft decking can stretch into a second day, and metal or tile jobs run two to five days. We open only as much roof as we can dry in that day.
Can Holden Roofing put a metal roof on a house or barn in Fresno Ranchos?
Yes. Holden Roofing installs standing seam metal on homes and R-panel or stone-coated steel on barns, shops and porches. On acreage, metal makes sense: it stands up to Gulf wind and commonly outlives a couple of shingle roofs, sometimes three.
What makes an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred roofer different?
Picture Owens Corning’s network as a pyramid: Platinum Preferred is the narrow peak, reached by invitation and by fewer than 7 percent of its Preferred Contractors.
Fresno homeowners who hire from that peak can get Platinum Protection, a limited lifetime warranty covering installation labor and materials alike.
